ON OUR RADAR: JUNE EDITION

Every single day we discover new products, new brands, new things. They catch our attention for a moment, but only the most special ones stay on our radar.

June is a special month, it's officially summertime (in the North Hemisphere, of course), days run smoothly, it's great to go out and enjoy a glass of wine with friends after work and on the weekends it’s time to go to the beach — and after-beach chill out at some of our favourite dinner spots; most of us have the first days of summer holidays, and everybody looks happier.

To enjoy these summer days, we have some tips for you.

1. THE STATEMENT FASHION ACCESSORIES OF THE SEASON: SCARVES

To wear around the neck, head, ponytail, wrist or even as a belt, scarves are a trendy, colourful, and versatile fashion accessories that we can’t escape from this summer.

2. THE BOOK: # LOVE VIVIER

As it reads on Rizzoli's website:

A fresh look at the concept of elegance and Parisian style, personified by the iconic fashion of Roger Vivier.

For decades, Roger Vivier has created visionary shoes and bags that, over time, have become icons of fashion. This book tells the story of this achievement and offers a fresh take on the designer’s legendary accessories, as seen through the eyes of young enterprising fashion bloggers and tastemakers including Charlotte Groeneveld, Chriselle Lim, Eleonora Carisi and Tamu McPherson. For the first time, objects of this legendary luxury brand will be interpreted directly by those who wear them, people who live their lives “inside” the Vivier brand.

Written by the fashion and lifestyle icons Ines de la Fressange, Arianna Piazza, Christene Barberich, Leandra Medine and Jean-Paul Goude.

3. THE PLACE YOU WILL NEVER FORGET: CASA MODESTA

Algarve is the most southern region of Portugal. It’s a small region but has two very different moods: the super busy side with beaches full of people and the most beautiful, quiet and peaceful side where you can enjoy some relaxing days.

One of these places is Casa Modesta, a minimalist family house near Olhão, that combines rural tourism with a contemporary feel. Here you can enjoy a relaxing time, surrounded by nature, inside the beautiful Ria Formosa Nature Park. You can enjoy the sea nearby and relax by the pool, you can learn how to cook traditional and healthy food and simply enjoy every moment. One thing we can tell you for sure, you will never forget the time that you spent at Casa Modesta and yes, you will want to come back.

4. THE PLANNER: BAN.DO AGENDAS (THAT NOW ARE CALLED PLANNERS) ARE BACK

They match with summer, they’re colourful, happy, and great to organize your whole life: your schedule, your projects, your next trips, everything.

Now they come in a new 13-month format that covers august 2018 to august 2019, which is great if you have anything that happens to go from late summer to spring. They have all your favourite stuff like year, month, and week views, cool artwork from cool artists, stickers, weekend to-dos, and tons more! The most difficult thing is to choose the cover, they are all so beautiful!

5. THE MANIFESTO: FASHION INDUSTRY AWARENESS

We’re living in a wonderful time, we have to celebrate and congratulate the greater awareness of the impact of fashion industry on the environment and animals. Stella McCartney stood up for these causes a long time ago and now we, finally, can see other big names in the industry, such as LVMH, following the same path. Also, there are some amazing projects emerging within the same scope, as last year Miroslava Duma created the Future Tech Lab, a venture capital fund that assists new technologies and sustainable innovations, with an emphasis on creating products within the fashion industry that reduce its social and environmental footprint.

It’s a long way but these paradigm shifts are proof that something’s finally changing, all of us have to do something and small steps lead to major changes. ASOS announced recently that they are banning animal-derived materials, Pop the Bubble launched their first organic tees capsule collection produced within the Fair Wear Foundation, and Vogue turned the spotlight onto the environment and the people who actively fight for this cause, like Gisele Bundchen, in its last issue. As Gisele said: "The fashion industry has the power to lead this movement toward a more sustainable future". Let’s go!
